Mice and rats are not known for their eyesight, but it is very well adapted to what they need to see in their environment. They have a strong sense of smell, as their whiskers give them a three-dimensional view of the environment and are very sensitive to sound and movement stimuli. They live from 3 - 6 years and of particular importance is the frequency with which they give birth, as they make 6 - 10 generations per year consisting of 4-10 newborns depending on their species.
